Out of this profound insight, he developed practical applications for numerous fields of human\u00a0endeavor. After completing his studies in science and\u00a0philosophy in Vienna, he gained a reputation among the\u00a0cultural circles of his time as an author and editor. \u00a0At the\u00a0beginning of the last century, he began speaking of the\u00a0results of his personal spiritual research, which he called\u00a0Anthroposophy (from the Greek \u201canthropos\u201d = human\u00a0being, and \u201csophia\u201d = wisdom). In the course of his very\u00a0productive existence (30 books and nearly 6000 lectures),\u00a0he travelled all over Europe, sharing the results of his\u00a0research in the fields of the sciences, the arts and human\u00a0spirituality, and as his influence spread he was invited to\u00a0meet with politicians, scientists, educators, artists, doctors\u00a0and other professionals. Rudolf Steiner founded the Anthroposophical Society in 1923, with the understanding that human consciousness was evolving and the gates of the spiritual world, long closed, were beginning to open again for humanity.
