Dear Members and Friends,<\/p>\n

\nThe Anthroposophical Prison Outreach Walk-a-thon is already one week away, 9\/25-27!<\/p>\n

Volunteers around the country will hike on nature trails and city sidewalks. A few Society Branches will walk together as part of their Michaelmas Festival, and two Camphill communities will participate. We also have a few swimmers, a runner, and one person on a scooter joining in this year.<\/p>\n

\nPlus, this year we have several APO students walking! They will take 2,000 steps for each mile, walking in the exercise yard of the prison, taking steps in their cells, or on their way to and from the chow hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe beautiful writings, poetry, and artwork of the prisoners<\/strong>\u00a0that appear in the Anthroposophical Prison Outreach Newsletters are a deep testament to the work being accomplished by the APO. Can you imagine doing such intense soul work, such profound life transformations, in a space where there are no outer freedoms, even the simplest? Cannot eat when or what you want, can\u2019t control the temperature or the lights, can\u2019t go for a walk in nature. Can you imagine feeling forgotten and alone in prison? Then receiving the APO books and newsletters and study courses? Every dollar is life and light and love to a fellow human being.\u00a0 Your donation truly does change lives and in so doing lifts us all. \u201cAnthroposophical Prison Outreach connects our incarcerated brothers and sisters<\/strong>\u00a0with the work of Rudolf Steiner, who helps us all understand that no physical barrier, no oppressive system can keep us from realizing true human Freedom.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Margaret Runyon<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI can think of few organizations that have the impact that this one does<\/strong>\u00a0on the lives of individuals. Reading what inspires each person in the APO newsletter keeps me from despair about the future. Each contribution warms the heart and creates actual new pathways in my brain! Supporting anthroposophy in this way is the opposite of feeling powerless. I will be hiking 6 miles, running a mile and swimming half a mile and carrying the image of those imprisoned – with me the whole way. I will be going with a friend on the hike on the Appalachian Trail.\u201d\u00a0Ann-Elizabeth Barnes<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cStudying books on anthroposophy has helped transform<\/strong>\u00a0my thinking, feeling, imagination, and positivity. The meditations have helped my inner development to be more calm, composed, and concentrate on tasks. Studying\u00a0How to Know Higher Worlds<\/em>\u00a0has taught me how to enter deeply, love another person\u2019s good qualities, and withhold judgement on people around me. I have learned to listen to voices that speak within me in my moment of serenity. I have learned to love what streams toward me from the spirit. I will be walking three miles on the weekend of the 25-27th each day, for a total of nine miles.\u201d\u00a0Emmanuel (Fairton, NJ)<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAPO had been my faithful companion since 2011<\/strong>\u00a0through books, lessons, newsletters, etc. making a very deep transformation on my life, on my inner self. I live a new life in all areas, mind, deeds, words, and feelings. APO found me like a boulder in a deserted and strange land (prison) exposed to the inclemency of my surroundings. APO extended their arms and reached me to take me out from my own inner prison, to guide me and lead me to new amazing ways of life…the old boulder, ugly and abandoned, now is a beautiful sculpted image. Thank you APO.\u00a0In my previous career, I was trained to teach and lead others to live and have a better life\u2026 except me! Anthroposophy was my challenge! It led me to embark on a very new journey: the path into my inner self! With some shame, I start to recognize that I was a \u2018light\u2019 for others, but not for myself; so, when I start to see into my inner self, I discover that I was no who pretend to be…kindly, APO invited me to start my inner journey to my own transformation. Of course, it was not easy, but I had made my decision to change, I was determined to dig deep in my inner self, until I reach and carve a new foundation for my mental, feelings, and being. Thank you, APO… I am a new person. I will be walking five miles as my working place gives a good opportunity to walk extra steps.\u201d\u00a0Eric (Diboll, TX)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
