and waste themselves<\/span><\/div>\n
upon the stony mantle.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Advent:<\/span><\/div>\n
the white light twains<\/span><\/div>\n
as an ill wind blows<\/span><\/div>\n
and the river drives its dark metal<\/span><\/div>\n
over the bitter land.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Advent:<\/span><\/div>\n
the Trinity speaks in flames<\/span><\/div>\n
only the One remains \u2014<\/span><\/div>\n
above my head<\/span><\/div>\n
thrush and blackbird<\/span><\/div>\n
flock their thirsty wings<\/span><\/div>\n
to the broken bread.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Advent:<\/span><\/div>\n
Four candles sear my soul<\/span><\/div>\n
Christ himself is near<\/span><\/div>\n
as the pale dove<\/span><\/div>\n
rides the wind.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The winterlands<\/span><\/div>\n
hard with hail<\/span><\/div>\n
scourge the oak and ash<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2014 the earth broods \u2014<\/span><\/div>\n
the acorn rests<\/span><\/div>\n
within its grail.<\/span><\/div>\n
