<\/span>Dear Friends of the Anthroposophical Society,<\/span>

Claude Mainville, a member of the Anthroposophical <\/span>Society and the School of Spiritual Science, crossed the threshold on October <\/span>31, 2014, at 11:55 p.m.  He had been in a <\/span>coma for some twelve hours, surrounded by his family. <\/span>The following are some brief memories of this <\/span>individual who became a friend to us during the last years of his life.<\/span>

Claude attended the first gathering of the study <\/span>group held at \u00c9ric Schneeberger\u2019s residence in Val David. He subsequently <\/span>contacted Jocelyne Arseneau to inquire whether other study groups existed, <\/span>and <\/span>then became an active member when a new group was formed, even welcoming us <\/span>into his home. That same winter (2013) he organized a showing of the film <\/span>The Challenge of Rudolf Steiner<\/i> in the <\/span>Bistro Le Baril Roulant<\/i> in Val David. He was already aware at this time of <\/span>the <\/span>illness that would finally take his life.<\/span>

That spring, he invited Michel Florin, head of the <\/span>Agriculture Section at the Goetheanum, to visit his vegetable garden in Val <\/span>David. Michel Florin had come to participate in the conference organized by <\/span>l\u2019Institut Rudolf Steiner du Qu\u00e9bec. <\/span>His courageous battle with his illness led him to <\/span>Toronto so seek anthroposophical medical treatment, and in the summer of 2013 <\/span>he decided to travel to Dornach to take the one-year course of<\/span>
anthroposophical <\/span>studies in English founded by Virginia Sease. While there, he was able to <\/span>avail <\/span>himself of treatments offered at the Lukas Klinik in Arlesheim.<\/span>

<\/span>
There remains much to be said about Claude, a man of <\/span>great dedication and commitment.<\/span>
