{"id":4270,"date":"2018-05-10T07:03:23","date_gmt":"2018-05-10T11:03:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anthroposophy.ca\/?p=4270"},"modified":"2024-12-09T17:42:34","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T22:42:34","slug":"calgary-branch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anthroposophy.ca\/en\/calgary-branch\/","title":{"rendered":"Calgary Branch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone<\/p>\n<p>I hope you are enjoying the fall colours. \u00a0The yellow and orange leaves make up a bit for the lack of sunshine. \u00a0The glow comes from the trees and ground, rather than the sky. \u00a0However, the weather is supposed to get better on Sept 23 and so I am still hopeful that we will have our glorious warm and sunny fall days (especially since I still have many things to do outside!).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Christine Wuerscher (aka Selbstaedt) and I&#8217;m responsible for getting the word out about any anthroposophical goings-on in Calgary. \u00a0If you have a relevant event of which I am not aware, or if you have questions or concerns, email me at\u00a0<u><a href=\"mailto:asccb@shaw.ca\">asccb@shaw.ca<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>Here are events which are happening in Calgary in the near future:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday Sept. 27, 2018: \u00a0STUDY GROUP <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our\u00a0study group\u00a0meets this Thursday with the book study beginning at 8 pm and socializing starting at 7:30 pm. \u00a0We are continuing our study of\u00a0<strong>Christianity as Mystical Fact<\/strong>. \u00a0We are in the middle of Chapter 5: \u00a0The Wisdom of the Mysteries and the Myth. \u00a0All are welcome! \u00a0Don&#8217;t feel that you have to come to all the study groups just because we&#8217;re studying a book. \u00a0There are riches to be gleaned each evening so come as you can. \u00a0And there are nice people to talk to, before and after, and occasional yummy munchies too. \u00a0Email\u00a0<strong><u><a href=\"mailto:asccb@shaw.ca\">asccb@shaw.ca<\/a><\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0if you need directions. \u00a0You can mark your calendars for the second and fourth Thursday of each month and then email me to find out the location since we rotate hosting responsibilities. \u00a0This Thursday, Sept. 27th, we will be meeting at 145 Sierra Morena Green SW in Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, 7 pm: \u00a0MICHAELMAS CELEBRATION \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will have a devotional gathering with readings and discussion, songs, and prayers on the theme of Matthew 22:1-14. \u00a0It is an opportunity to pause and ponder the significance of St. Michael for our time and place. \u00a0If you like to sing, come at 6:45 pm to rehearse the songs prior to the beginning of the celebration. \u00a0The gathering will take place at 2402 Carleton St SW in Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, 8 pm:<\/strong>\u00a0 <strong>GRAND OPENING OF TALC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What is TALC, you ask?\u00a0 It is a temporary acronym which stands for Tiny Anthroposophical Library of Calgary.\u00a0 We will officially open the library of around 200 books which is housed at 2402 Carleton St SW. \u00a0These books have come to our branch as a gift from the library of the Anthroposophical Society of Canada and a few generous donors who want to share their books. \u00a0However, the library is actually much bigger because it has satellites; a number of friends here in Calgary are making their own libraries available for use through this little library. \u00a0If you come to Calgary, contact me at\u00a0<u><a href=\"mailto:asccb@shaw.ca\">asccb@shaw.ca<\/a><\/u>\u00a0if you are looking to borrow a certain book. \u00a0In the meantime,come for the cutting (ribbon), the browsing (books), the toasting (beverage), the grazing (food) and the mingling (friends, old and new). \u00a0AND you have the once in a lifetime opportunity to have input into the name of this &#8220;little library that can&#8221; inspire focussed thinking, \u00a0mindful feeling and heartled action!
