Synopsis of the Presentation
The Christmas Conference in 1923, together with the Foundation Stone Meditation as the founding of the New Mysteries, is a threefold appeal addressed to human soul to spirit recalling, to spirit sensing and to spirit beholding. Not only should the Foundation Stone awake and unfold in the heart, where it has been laid down, but also human being himself or herself should practice what is expressed in the fourth strophe.

After the turning point of time, the warmth substance of the Shepherds, which made their hearts clairvoyant in a new way, should now penetrate the organization of the head. The wisdom of the Kings, who could read the sign in the cosmos, which enlightened the human past, should from now on become interiorized and enlighten the heart.

Excerpt and Suggested Reading
“What the Magi possessed through an outer observation of the stars reading the events in the cosmic realm, we need to obtain by an awakening of our inner life.”

“We should become as pious as were the shepherds of the field, then, through piety in outer observation of nature; we must in our inward vision become as wise as were the Magi in their outer observations. We must develop inwardly what the Magi developed outwardly. This is the way to a deepened experience of Christ.”

Rudolf Steiner CW 202, Basel, 23 December 1920.
