16 Jun Introducing John Bach – Our Newest Council Member
– by John Bach
I have been a member of the Anthroposophical Society since the early 1990s, and have felt that over the last 5 years or so that my time to start participating in more outward ways to the Society had come. When Philip Thatcher asked me to join the Council, I felt that a new chapter in my life and in my relationship to Anthroposophy had begun.
In addition to working with my fellow Council members to deepen and foster Anthroposophy in Canada, I also conduct biodynamic research into the two different approaches to sowing seeds according to cosmic influences given by Rudolf Steiner and Maria Thun. I have also studied Rudolf Steiner’s lectures on honeybees, and as a result of this have started a pilot project to produce non-grafted lineages of queen bees. This work is taking place at a strawberry farm in Langley, B.C. Detailed essays on the rationale and methodology for both of these research projects, along with my biodynamic planting calendar can be found at my website at www.bachbiodynamics.com.
Our meeting and working at the Vancouver AGM brought for me a great sense of collegiality and harmony. I look forward to further work with this warm and sincere group of anthroposophists that are the Council, and with meeting more of the membership throughout Canada.
