New Council Member – John Glanzer – Calgary, AB:

imageThank you to all the Members attending the May 21st AGM in Montreal who provided such a warm welcome and confirmation of new Council Members. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a forward thinking, open group of colleagues.

33 years ago a seeking soul found Don Cruse’s Introduction to Anthroposophy lecture series in Edmonton through the help of my dear wife Margaret (who is always the scout in the family, finding new things). My biography has since taken me through Waldorf schools in Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna and Vancouver with our four children. In parallel with this was a Waldorf teacher training in Kelowna, 8 years of social therapy with special needs companions in Camphill (Vancouver and Duncan), 8 years of Class Reading in Alberta, and 23 years in Engineering, Operations, Business Development and Planning in the crude oil and green/renewable-energy industrial arenas.

In this latter adventure, I have seen and have had the opportunity to contribute to the recent evolution of spirituality in the conventional workplace. I feel that these combined experiences have brought me to a place where I can offer a meaningful contribution to the life of our Anthroposophical Society in Canada by simply sharing world ideas with my colleagues in the hope that in the combining of thoughts we are able “to bring about what needs to come about.”

Looking forward to meeting you – perhaps as early as the Encountering Our Humanity conference in August?

John Glanzer
